Undergraduate Application Requirements:

  • At least 12 units of college-level history coursework complete.
  • Maintain a minimum 3.1 GPA in all college history courses and a minimum 3.0 GPA in two-thirds of all non-history college courses.
  • Submit a one-time membership fee of $60.00 (payable to Phi Alpha Theta).
  • Submit a copy of your most recent unofficial transcript or UCLA Degree Progress Report (DPR). Have an interest in history and historical scholarship; the History major is not required for membership.
  • Submit all documents to Phi Alpha Theta Advisor, Eboni Shaw in Bunche 6250.

Scholarship Key

The Scholarship Key will be awarded to one graduating ad honorem member of Phi Alpha Theta: Theta Upsilon for outstanding service to our chapter. Individuals will be nominated for recognition by members of the Executive Board prior to the end of the year banquet and will be determined by the Faculty Advisor, President and Vice President. At the banquet, this individual will be formally recognized and will receive the Phi Alpha Theta Scholarship Key Pin (or a comparable gift as available from National Headquarters).

Special Recognition Award

The Special Recognition Award will be awarded to one member of Phi Alpha Theta: Theta Upsilon, regardless of point accumulation or class standing (i.e. third year, fourth year, etc.), for excellent service to our chapter. Individuals will be nominated for recognition by any member of Phi Alpha Theta: Theta Upsilon. At the banquet, this individual will be formally recognized and will receive the Phi Alpha Theta Official Badge Pin (or a comparable gift as available from National Headquarters).
